I’m excited to share my experience from the Accounting & Finance Show Asia 2023, where I participated in a panel discussion titled “App Stack and App Advisory for Smaller Practice Firms.” This panel discussion was hosted by the super cool Heather Smith. Tang Shiuh Huei , and Kyelie Baxter who are both accounting firm owners were also on the panel. Here’s a recap of the insights and takeaways from our discussion.

Who is Samuel David (About Me)

Hello, I’m Samuel David. I work with the Digital Team at businessDEPOT Australia, focusing on cloud technology implementation and advisory for our eCommerce clients. I am also the creator of this newsletter. Before this, I spent two years working with Malaysian businesses, encouraging technology adoption. I have also just completed my last ACCA paper after multiple failed attempts 😁.

As someone who does technology implementation, this was a fantastic opportunity to share my experiences and learn from other experts.

What is app advisory ?

App advisory involves understanding the challenges or opportunities that your clients are facing and advising them on the technology (aside from the accounting software) that will help them run their business more efficiently.

While this service is not yet widely popular among accounting firms in Malaysia, it’s gaining traction. Accountants who understand technology can provide significant value to their clients by recommending and implementing the right tools for client needs.
